Benefits of a Vermeer Pro G4 round baler

Minimal plugs, durable components and a versatile chopping system

Built to put up silage bales and a variety of crop types, Vermeer Pro G4 balers are champions in the field. Designed and assembled in Pella, Iowa, the 504 Pro G4 and 604 Pro G4 balers help craft nutrient-dense round bales for your cattle.

The fourth generation of Vermeer Pro balers bring advancements in durability and versatility to support the increasing demand for chopped hay. With industry leading features, these round balers are true silage balers for use in wet and dry crop types.

Let’s go over the numerous benefits the Vermeer Pro G4 balers bring to your hay making operation.

A no-nonsense way to clear plugs

The days of getting out of your cab to clear a plug in your baler are over. When baling wet crops, plugging becomes a larger issue for operators and can delay the baling process. Vermeer Pro G4 balers feature a spring-mounted drop floor that can be lowered hydraulically from the cab to clear plugs quickly.

The drop floor uses spring components that flex during baling to help reduce plugs and a hydraulic drop to clear plugs if they happen so operators can get back to baling.

“The drop floor gives you the confidence to drive to the true capacity and speed of the baler because you don’t have to worry about digging out plugs. If you do plug, it lets you clear the plug easily, giving you more time to work in the field,” said Ed Henning, Vermeer product training specialist.

Adjust the number of knives used for chopping

Vermeer Pro G4 balers are outfitted with a two-bank, 17-knife chopping system. The chopping system gives you flexibility to easily customize your cut length without having to leave the cab to adjust knives. The chopping system can also help you minimize waste when feeding hay by putting up bales with a consistent crop length.

“With a two-bank knife system, you can set the baler to use zero, eight, nine or 17 knives from the cab. If you want to run just one knife bank, you can without having to manually adjust the knife system. You can also alternate between banks, so you can lower a set of dull knives and raise a fresh set without having to change out any knives,” Henning said.

To support the knife system in specifically tough crops, Pro G4 balers offer a feature that gives you the ability to override the pressure relief setting to give full tractor pressure to the knife bank to break through any build up.

Know more with the Atlas Pro™ control system

Vermeer 504 and 604 Pro G4 round balers are equipped with an Atlas Pro™ control system, which provides you with important information including bale size and shape, moisture levels and field data.

“A lot of the important features on the Pro G4 round balers are centered around the Atlas Pro monitor,” Henning said. “The data tracking gives you the ability to look at real-time moisture levels and weight and split data up by field. The monitor provides all these statistics at your fingertips to make putting up quality hay an easier task.”

When it comes to putting up hay, the Atlas Pro control system is intuitive and is standard ISOBUS compatible on most tractors. The Atlas Pro system lets you control hydraulic net tension and bale density from the monitor so you can put up bales tailored to your conditions. Using the Atlas Pro system gives you the ability to monitor and improve your bales during the baling process, helping you maximize your productivity while creating well-shaped and dense bales.

Heavy-duty components support durability and reliability

Yellow iron is tough and so are the Vermeer Pro G4 balers. As one of the heaviest balers on the market, the G4 balers are outfitted with heavy-duty large bearings, shafts and rollers.

Strong components not only reduce the effect of use on wearable parts but also boost the capacity to bale heavier crops, like silage. Optimized for longevity and durability, Pro G4 balers are built with components, like undershot rotors and endless belts, meant to last and withstand continued silage production.

The fourth generation of the Vermeer Pro balers are built to help you produce high-quality chopped bales of silage and dry hay for your herd. Equipped with durable and supportive features to boost reliability and ease of use, the Vermeer Pro G4 balers help you maximize your uptime in the field.
