2017 New Product Spotlight: 504R Signature Balers
October 2016
Of the many engineering accomplishments by Vermeer, the advent of the big round baler in 1971 that revolutionized the hay harvesting industry is still the one of the mostly widely known. The design has evolved over the years to incorporate new technology, while maintaining the durability they are known for, which is why Vermeer round balers remain a top choice for producers around the world.
One of the latest additions to the Vermeer round baler lineup is the 504R Signature. This baler is built upon the three pillars of Vermeer balers: convenience, ease of use and durability. The 504R Signature baler is designed for producers who harvest primarily dry hay but also want the ability to bale silage when the weather isn’t on their side, giving the working man a baler for any operation. Let’s take a closer look at some of the key features that set the 504R Signature apart.
Camless Wide Pickup
What does a “camless” pickup mean? A pickup design with no cam tracks or follower bearings for smoother and quieter operation. Another benefit of the new pickup design, it only has two wear points, compared to previous models which have 17. This change helps reduce maintenance and prolong the life of the machine. 3-Year Pickup Warranty*
Yes, that is right, three years. Covering internal components and including parts and labor on the 504R Signature baler. Operators can rest assured their pickup is backed by Vermeer parts and service.
Aggressive Rotor
An auger and feeding system forces the crop onto the rotating belts and then into the chamber for bale formation. The combination of the rotor and camless wide pickup creates positive bale starts that form square-shouldered, dense bales.
Real-Time Moisture Sensors
Real-time information in the cab allows operators to make educated decisions. With the 504R Signature and Atlas™ monitor, operators have access to real-time moisture information with the standard moisture sensors.
Heavy Duty Components
Durable parts allow operators to efficiently bale in wet or dry hay. The three main drive chains are 80 chain, the upper and lower drive bearings have a 33 percent higher load rating than previous models and the maximum torque rating on the clutch is 32 percent higher than on the 504R Signature predecessor.
Hydraulic Pickup
An optional hydraulic pickup lift provides convenience for operators switching between multiple fields.
*Does not include teeth, stripper bands or hardware for teeth.
